wxWidgets in Leopard

The new schedule of Apple's OS X 10.5 a.k.a. Leopard (to ship in October) allows us to get a newer version of 2.8 into the builds. So we aim for a 2.8.4 Release Candidate around the end of April, synching wxPython and wxPerl with it.

Mac OS X 10.4 ships with wxWidgets 2.5 pre-installed.

It seems to me that wx-2.8 has some compatibility for wx-2.6. Does that mean that existing applications built to link to the wx-2.5 dynamic libraries in the system will cease to run? Or will apple be shipping wx-2.5 and wx-2.8 libraries together?
